What an Installation Actually Involves
Installing a charger is notifiable electrical work: it has to be done by a qualified electrician, certified on completion, and registered with Building Control where the regulations require it. Every quote we send is priced on that basis, including the cable run, isolation, protective devices, commissioning, the electrical installation certificate and DNO notification where it applies.
Most home installations land between £800 and £1,400 all in. The variation comes down to two things: which charger you pick, and how far the cable has to travel from your consumer unit to where you park. Our cost calculator will give you a realistic range for your property in about a minute.
The Grant, Honestly
The OZEV chargepoint grant still exists, but it is far narrower than it was — owner-occupied houses have not been eligible since 2022. Plenty of installer sites have not updated their copy. Ours has: the full rules are here, and we will tell you on the first call whether you qualify rather than dangling £350 you were never going to get.
